| SQF…a
commitment to safe, quality food
SQF means Safe Quality Food. The SQF programs are
fully integrated food safety and quality management protocols
designed specifically for the food industry with application
to all links in the food supply chain. SQF programs are administered
by SQF Institute, which is a division of Food Marketing Institute
(FMI).
SQF certification provides an independent and external validation
that a product, process, or service complies with international,
regulatory, and/or other specified standards. It enables a food
supplier to give assurances that food has been produced, prepared,
and handled according to the highest possible standards.
The SQF Codes are based on universally accepted CODEX Alimentarius
HACCP Guidelines and offer food sectors a way to manage food safety
and quality simultaneously. The SQF 1000 Code is designed specifically
for primary producers, while the SQF 2000 Code has wide appeal
across the food manufacturing and distribution sectors.
Additional information is available at the SQF
Web site.
SQF Systems Training is offered by Guelph Food Technology Centre
in cooperation with WSU Extension Food Processing.
A recognized three-day HACCP training is a prerequisite for the SQF
Systems Training and is offered by WSU
Extension Food Processing.
